ASHLEY D. THOMAS, LCSW
Behavioral Health Therapist
If you are here, you are at least curious about therapy. So I congratulate you for making it this far because it is not always an easy decision. I hope that before you leave this site, you are that much closer to scheduling an appointment! I am currently seeing adolescents and adults for individual sessions in a private office setting. As you browse my site, if you have any questions or concerns, please contact me directly.
To provide a safe, non-judgmental, and open space where individuals can be their true authentic selves as they slowly being to explore their issues and concerns and learn effective ways to manage them in an effort to enhance overall mental health and well-being.
It is my goal, my passion to be able to assist individuals in becoming better versions of themselves.
Since my very first psychology course in high school, I knew I was to be a counselor. I was intrigued with the idea of mental illness and even more interested in the available treatments, namely therapy. In my pursuit of my dream, I obtained my Bachelor’s of Arts degree in Psychology from The University of Michigan and then my Masters Degree in Social Work, also from The University of Michigan. I did not immediately enter the therapy world; instead I worked as a social worker in outpatient clinics and hospitals, providing case management and referral services to those in need. I have a wealth of experience working with individuals from all different cultures, backgrounds, races, economic statuses, and ages and it truly has all been a privilege. For the past 5 years, I have been focused on providing individual therapy full-time, fulfilling my old high school dream.
I am originally from the natural state of Arkansas. I spent over a decade in the great lakes state of Michigan, which genuinely feels like a second home. I have been a Houstonian now for over three years and loving it. In my spare time, I enjoy road cycling (work in progress), reading, traveling, brunching, rooting for the Wolverines (Go Blue!), and spending time with my family.
Today, I will live today.
Yesterday has passed.
Tomorrow is not yet.
I’m left with today.
So, today, I will live today.
Relive yesterday? No.
I will learn from it.
I will seek mercy for it.
I will take joy in it.
But I won’t live in it.
The sun has set on yesterday.
The sun has yet to rise on tomorrow.
Worry about the future? To what gain?
It deserves a glance, nothing more.
I can’t change tomorrow until tomorrow.
Today, I will live today.
I will face today’s challenges with today’s strength.
I will dance today’s waltz with today’s music.
I will celebrate today’s opportunities with today’s hope.
